CLIA (Community Law in Action)

Context

CLIA (Community Law in Action) is a small nonprofit organization in Baltimore. The year before they hired us, the then 17-year old organization had gone through its first ever leadership change. At that point, their director was ready to make strategic investments to bring their branding and marketing into stronger alignment with its priorities and goals.

Our creative and website partner on this project was Redstart Design.

Challenge

We needed to preserve the brand equity CLIA had gained over the years thanks to its inspiring mission, talented team, funders, and strong local reputation while simultaneously up-leveling the brand identity and position for sustainable growth and expanded impact in the future.

Approach

Create a full suite of strategic and creative branding and marketing tools and practices for our client’s next chapter. Engage full staff in brand and marketing strategy work. Build internal marketing capacity by giving key staff the skills and tools needed to successfully implement the marketing plan over time.

Solution

We developed strategic communications recommendations, a brand messaging guide, and a marketing plan. We worked with our graphic and web design partner to create a new brand identity, style guide, and website. We provided staff training and coaching in multiple sessions and wrote branded content for use in multi-channel marketing.
